"Stairway To Heaven" Box

Another design box project, this was done to the tune of “Stairway to Heaven,” covered by Heart at The Kennedy Center Honers - a version of the song that, in my view, challenges the point of view the original writers had on the world. This design project helped me to consider overall details instead of small elements of the songs. I grew in my use of shadow and depth in this project, and enjoyed using more natural materials for my concept.

Stairway to Heaven is a story of jealousy, elite wealth, a journey, and of a wish for a better place. The message in the song is about living as one people and overcoming the separation of wealth and of common people. There is a woman in the song, who is fabulously wealthy but lonely and sorrowful. She wants a better place, but in her wealthy ignorance, she is trying to buy her way into a better place, represented as heaven in the lyrics. There is also the path of the common people, of the spectator, and of the singers of the song, including a choir. The separation of two different classes and two different paths to a better place is a part of the song I focused on in this design.
